Salco Series Disney Die-cast Models
In the 1940s the British toy company created a series of 5 Disney themed die-cast models which they called the Salco Series and were promoted as the 5 Salco Disney Novelties. The models feature the main classic Disney characters Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Donald Duck. Pluto is also featured pulling the Dairy Truck. We take a look at the five models including some sold prices at auction.
The models included: Mickey and Minnie’s Barrel Organ; Mickey’s Fire Brigade; Donald Duck’s Dairy with Pluto; Mickey and Minnie on the River and
Mickey and Donald’s Garden Set.
Mickey and Minnie’s Barrel Organ

Good to very good, some marks and age related blemishes throughout in fair to good original box. Sold for £170 at M & M Specialist Auctioneers, December 2023.
Mickey’s Fire Brigade

Donald Duck’s Dairy with Pluto

A BOXED SALCO DISNEY NOVELTIES DONALD DUCK’S DAIRY, No 85/9, Donald & Pluto figures, yellow milk cart with red wheels (missing Pure Milk labels from each side) complete with churn, lightly playworn condition with some paint loss and wear, cart marked Charbens to base, box complete but has some damage and wear. Sold for £200 at Richard Winterton Auctioneers, October 2020.

Mickey and Donald’s Garden Set

The series of models is delightful and showcases the early looks of Mickey, Minnie and Donald. The boxes are nice and add to the models greatly. There are different colourways within the model notable the Mickey and Minnie’s Barrel Organset which can be seen with red, bk]lue and green barrel organs. A fine set of 5 in very good boxes should cost £1,000 plus.
