An Unexpected Visit to Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort – One of the great things of being a member that if you have the points and their is availability you can change resorts quite easily.
We were transferring from our home resort of Kidani to stay a night at The Riviera.
This was our train of thought. DVC experts will spot the problems quickly.
So how to get to The Riviera. The Skyliner would be a nice way to arrive. Lets get the bus from Kidani to EPCOT to get the Skyliner to the Riviera. All good, a bus came quickly and we soon arrived at EPCOT.
Our plans began to unfold.
The Skyliner does indeed go to The Riviera from EPCOT BUT the Skyliner is at the back and not the front of EPCOT.
Walk through you suggest. The problem being our park tickets for the day were Hollywood Studios so we could not get into EPCOT.
Okay we will get a Disney bus to The Riviera.
“Novices” the Disney Experts shout “There is no bus from EPCOT to The Riviera! It has the Skyliner!”
So we need to get to another resort to get to another park (Not EPCOT 🙂 ) to get to The Riviera.
We were advised that Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort was close and a good way to transfer to Hollywood Studios.
A bus was waiting so we found ourselves driving our way to the Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort and Gran Destino Tower.
Not being a DVC resort we knew very little about the resort and on arrival were not sure. The bus was circling the outside dropping off and picking up at multiple bus stops. In all the resorts we had stayed in so far (in our two visits) there were single bus stops or other transport options.
We eventually arrived at the main bus stop for the Gran Destino Tower and were excited to take a look around. And maybe have a coffee and it was breakfast time.
The resort infuses Spanish, Mexican and Southwest American cultures. The lobby was spacious, clean and bright and looks over the delightful Barcelona Lounge Bar, which importantly was still serving breakfast.
We went for the:
Egg, Chorizo, Potato, and Cheese Breakfast Wrap
and to drink a coffee and I went for the special Cinnamon Twist Cold Brew.
There was also a Whisky Tart which was pat of the Soulfully Celebration and the cake was only available throughout February.
The wrap was the excellent and one of the better breakfast snacks we had on this visit to Disney. I really enjoyed my Cinnamon Twist Cold Brew and the Whisky Tart was very good.
The Barcelona Bar opens out onto the Lago Dorado which the resort is based around. We enjoyed a stroll around the grounds and were glad that the best laid plans of Disney Mice and Men led us to an unexpected but enjoyable and delicious visit to Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.
We eventually left, picked up the bus to Hollywood Studios and made for the Skyliner and The Riviera.
