Collectibles at the Mexico Pavilion at EPCOT – The World Showcase at EPCOT is one of our favourite places at Walt Disney World. Certain pavilions come into vogue with Norway (with the Frozen Ever After Ride previously The Maelstrom) and France (with the Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure). Mexico has the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros ride and has had the film release of Coco in 2017. We take a look at the Pavilion with particular reference to some of the collectibles available.
The entrance hall at Mexico has Day of the Dead related exhibits and now some Coco related exhibits. The Coco film was very well received and it will be interesting if they feature characters more in the future.
Through the entrance hall is the main market hall with shops, restaurant, bar and The Three Caballeros ride. The market and shops have Mexican related craft items with many related to the Day of the Dead and Coco related collectibles.

The Pyramid Is Inspired by Chichen Itza
The centerpiece of the Mexico Pavilion is its pyramid structure, which was inspired by Chichen Itza, one of the largest archaeological sites in Mexico. This pyramid houses “Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros”, a boat ride that takes guests on an adventure through Mexico with Donald Duck and his two amigos Panchito Pistoles and José Carioca.
It is based on the 1944 film “The Three Caballeros” and takes guests through a journey of Mexican culture. It replaced El Rio del Tiempo (The River of Time) boat ride that previously was at the Mexico Pavillion from 1982 to 2007.
The Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros is a slow-moving boat ride that takes guests through a variety of Mexican inspired scenes. As you make your way through the attraction, you will travel through the streets of Mexico City, visit an Aztec temple, explore a night market, and more! Along the way, you will be accompanied by Donald Duck and his friends Panchito Pistoles (a Mexican charro rooster) and José Carioca (a Brazilian parrot). As you journey along with them on their search for Donald Duck who has gone missing after an impromptu performance at La Fiesta de las Golondrinas (The Festival of Swallows), they will serenade you with music from the original movie.
From the visits we have made to the Mexico Pavilion there were very few if any The Three Caballeros related collectibles. Definitely missing a trick there.
Coco Collectibles
Coco Collectibles available ranged from Disney pins, plush toys based on the characters, Coco’s acoustic guitar, mugs, and figurines.
We liked the nice range of kitchenalia items.
We really like the Mexico Pavilion – it has a great mix of shops, food, drink and a ride.
Will The Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros be re-themed?
The ride is quaint and based on a classic Disney movie. However, most younger Disney fans have not even heard of the film yet a lone seen it. With the success of the re-imagined Maelstrom ride to Frozen Ever After there is always the possibility of re-imagining.
